As a family with young children we love the functionality of ziplock bags but hate that they are going to outlast our lives in the environment and pollute the oceans. We searched hard for a more earth-friendly alternative to contribute towards leaving our kids a sustainable future. Who it is for: For parents, families and businesses who want an earth-friendly paper alternative for plastic ziplock bags without compromising functionality. Please note: Will biodegrade in a predictable way in compostable facilities, home-composting time will vary based on specific environmental conditions. NO GREENWASHING, STRAIGHT UP HONESTY. Who it is NOT for: Those looking for a transparent storage bag. This product is NOT transparent. Why is there no transparent window? We did not want to use any form of plastic in our paper bags, and given biodegradable plant based alternatives are not transparent enough to easily identify contents, we left it out of our design. A paper/ semi-translucent window would’ve further driven up the cost, out-marketing the product from its plastic, and kraft paper/ plastic window competitors. Note: transparent windows are usually made of PE or polyethylene plastic. Why do these seem pricey? Simply because they are not mainstream. A plastic lining (usually PE) is what is mainstream for kraft paper resealable bags (and plastic is manufactured relatively cheaply), that makes this plastic-free alternative pricey to source. Our margins may not cover our costs (sourcing + transportation + storage + fulfilment). However, we hope that we collectively care enough for a sustainable future to have a place for these, and the higher the demand the more we are able to negotiate better sourcing prices to drive down your cost.
